“You cannot give what you do not have.” …ACIM
Your ego has probably already responded to the above quote with a sneer, contempt, sarcasm, or some other negative emotion. For your ego thinks it knows everything and cannot bear to be told something it already sees as obvious. But as you will eventually come to understand, your ego knows nothing at all.
I’m not even going to go into the plain and obvious as your ego sees it, for it sees only the material world. Therefore it regards the above quote as being beneath its intelligence and responds with something like, “What kind of foolishness is that? Everyone knows you can’t give what you don’t have.”
This blog is not written to your ego, it’s directed to that which is eternal in your mind. But that being said, it has to include your ego in order to reach beyond it. For your ego is that part of your mind that has made a separate thought system based in fear. Every negative and unloving thought that has ever crossed your mind has come from the ego’s thought system.
If what’s in you is contempt, anger, fear or other negative emotions then that’s what you’ll be giving away
The above statement is a paraphrase of a quote by the late Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. It’s not exactly as he said it but its meaning is pretty much the same.
Whether you realize it or not, you’re always giving and you’re always receiving.
I’m not talking about material things for they’re the exclusive domain of your ego. The ego only gives in order to get and it always expects more than it gives.
I’m talking about you as a teacher, for as the Course tells us: The question is not whether you will teach, for in that there is no choice. To teach is to learn, so that teacher and learner are the same. Teaching is a constant process — it goes on every moment of the day and continues into sleeping thoughts as well.
If it continues into sleeping thoughts as well, then who is the student? That question has already been answered in the quote; teacher and learner are the same. So the question is, what are you teaching and what are you learning?
As my opening quote says, you cannot give what you do not have. But the good news is, you already have whatever it is you want to learn. It’s already inherent within your mind or within your heart. You just have to choose which thought system you’re going to listen to.
As the enlightened soul known in this world as Richard Bach once said: “Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, teachers.”
“Once again a new world view is arising…” Barbara Marx Hubbard
Whether we’re aware of it or not, things are changing before our very eyes. And regardless of what it might seem like in your present perspective, it’s changing for the better.
This change began a long time ago, and is now coming to culmination. As millions upon millions of people are striving to become aware of their true Self, and therefore recognize their own reality as that of LOVE.
That which the Course calls The real world is beginning to enter the awareness of those who have chosen to recognize the Spirit. It’s a world that cannot be seen by those who continue to see the flesh. It’s a world of the Spirit, a world of the heart, a world of LOVE which can only be accessed by looking within and recognizing your SELF.
As this blog has referenced many times this world of flesh, this exterior world where the ego rules ruthlessly does not exist except as an illusion – a smokescreen to hide reality. As you choose to sincerely look within, Christ’s Vision will dawn upon your mind and you will know that this is so. For the only reality there is will shine in your awareness, and you will LOVE your neighbour as you LOVE your SELF.
“Unity not uniformity must be our aim.” …Mary Parker Follett
As the Course teaches, and as many are aware, this world is based in separation and fear. It’s a place where we believe the unbelievable and imagine we’re doing the impossible. Those who see themselves as living in it believe they’re separated from one another, and also from their only Source of Life. These beliefs have placed them in the hell of misery, sickness, aging and death.
Mary Parker Follett was, amoung other things, a Philosopher, and without doubt she was an enlightened soul. Back in 1918 she provided the world with the solution to most of its dilemmas and problems. She was promoting the concept which she coined. “Conscious Evolution.” I don’t know much about it, but I’d say the words are pretty self-explanatory. I was attracted to her quote because of her vision in promoting the idea that our aim must be unity.
“You can only be who you are by sharing who you are.” …ACOL
Unity is the only road to reality. Outside of unity, or union, it’s impossible for anything to exist, except as an illusion. You exist because you’re a part of your Creator which He shared as an extension of Himself.
You cannot exist apart from Him, for you are one with Him as He is One with you. Your belief that you can, and do, exist apart from Him is the source of the whole world of illusions that you perceive. A world of misery, fear, suffering & death.
As your Father created you by sharing Himself, you either make or create by sharing. And whatever you share is what you teach. As we’ve already leaned you’re always teaching, or if you prefer, sharing, what you belief you are. If you see yourself as unworthy then you’ll teach unworthiness. If you feel that you’re depressed then you’ll share depression.
As Dr. Wayne Dyer, pointed out in a quote I used earlier: If what’s in you is contempt, anger, fear or other negative emotions then that’s what you’ll be giving away. In other words, that’s what you’ll be sharing with the world.
And the more negativity you share the more you get to keep for yourself. Your outer world, the one you believe you live in, always reflects the world you feel within you. As Dr. Dyer also said, “Loving people live in a loving world. Hostile people live in a hostile world. Same world…”
“The greatest power you possess in life is your understanding that life gives you a fresh start any moment you choose to start fresh.” …Guy Finley
The Course agrees with Mr. Finley. It says: “The power of decision is your one remaining freedom as a prisoner of this world. You can decide to see it right.“
Those who see themselves as unhappy, fearful or in any other negative condition are perceiving that which in reality can never be. They see themselves as separate from God and every other living thing. They’re teaching everyone that will listen, including themselves, that God’s creation can be negative and fearful, which they’re presenting for all to see.
On the other hand, those who see themselves as happy, fearless or in any other positive condition are perceiving that which is the only reality. They see themselves as one with God and every other living thing. They’re teaching everyone that will listen, including themselves, that God’s creation is Love filled with happiness, which they’re presenting for the world to see.
I’m going to close this post with a quote from A Course in Miracles: “Recognize only that the ego’s goal, which you have pursued quite diligently, has only brought you fear, and it becomes difficult to maintain that fear is happiness.”
I’m grateful to you for visiting this blog – Thank You
